The world's easiest 6000m peak

Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek with Drohmo-Ri

StartingFrom
US$2000
INR98,000

Trek Description

For those looking to climb their first 6000m peak, Dhromo Ri is probably the easiest and most rewarding. The peak rises directly above the teahouse at Pangpema, at 5,143m, the last stop on the trail to Kangchenjunga’s north side. It rises more than 800m above the teahouse. Drohmo Ri must not be confused with Drohmo Peak (6,881m). If you are planning for the Kanchenjunga circuit trek, then you should give it a try even if you’re just a trekker. The view from the top is something special.

Finally, we will descend back to Ghunsa.

Day 15-19

Kanchenjunga South Base Camp

From Ghunsa, it will take two days to reach Tseram, crossing high passes. The major passes are (in order from Ghunsa to Tseram) Sele La (4480m), Mirgin La (4646m), and Sinelapche Bhanjyang (4750m). Sinelapche Bhanjyang is the highest with an elevation of 4750m, whereas Mirgin La provides the best view with Makalu on the horizon.

These passes will be a bit challenging, but they will offer jaw-dropping vistas of mountains. This is also an area where some trekkers report seeing snow leopards. Leaving our belongings behind at Tseram, we will move toward the viewpoint of the South Base Camp of Mt. Kanchenjunga, also known as Oktang (4730m).

We will catch a glimpse of mesmerizing Kanchenjunga with all its major peaks, along with Kabru, Rathong, and Koktang, and return to Tseram for an overnight stay. Then we will descend back to Yamphudin, walking 6.5-7.5 hrs a day.
